Well, Sun's Java 6 runtime has DTrace probes built in to it, so if you're on
a system with DTrace support, you can instrument your Java application using
that.

If you're just hunting memory leaks, the NetBeans profiler or the the
management tools that ship with the JDK (jconsole/jstat/jhat/jmap) might do
the trick.  There are also lots of other tools in this area... which one
will suit you best is something you'll have to find out.
