Yep, I agree. After upgrading my edgy box to feisty, I was curious at
how a clean install would go, and did one on a drive with two existing
partitions, one windows, and the other, a previous install of dapper.

Feisty asked me would I like to resize the linux partition and install
into the space created, I went with that and it duly did its magic and
installed....though it is arguable how useful the amount of space it
freed for itself is for a linux install, but it did work, well. Even
asked me if I wanted to import credentials from the dapper install and
favorites etc from the windows partition....outstanding.

On reboot, the existing partitions were available by a click, mounting a
remote windows drive, a click. Setting up to and printing to my network
laser, a doddle. Couldn't have been easier in fact, still, there are
some foibles but in general, great. Since then, I upgraded a few times
(including a new kernel) and no issues.

What was an issue, nvidia drivers and that seemed to be a weirdity,
usual process simply didn't work, but I suspect it was me rather than
feisty as installing 'automatrix' and using it to install the nvidia
drivers worked a treat. I would recommend automatix for those using
ubuntu, it isn't perfect but it does make life simple.

Once the nvidia drivers were installed, I enabled the whizzy desktop
effects, as swish as those available in Apple's to be released Leopard.
As I haven't played with Vista, I can't compare to it.

Since then I have installed a Cisco VPN client and a Citrix client, and
as usual (OK, one has to know a few minor points for both, like patching
the Cisco installer) both perform very well once setup.

In short, feisty is rather good. Yes, it has some flakeyness and
annoyances, but so far, I haven't found any show stoppers. My only gripe
is that it appears that Ubuntu shipped feisty a little early and to
install on my macBoook, requires using the alternate CD and doing some
ATI driver installs prior to doing the main install as such.

I look forward to the next version of the feisty installer cd. One thing
I do like about ubuntu and that I think endears it to at least some
people, is the single disc install which contains most of the needed
everyday apps.

Cheers
L
