good - just for reference did you restart kde or the whole computer? Linux shouldn't need this windowsy type of solution, but there a lot of interactions amongst apps running under those 'modern' desktops - its true of kde and gnome - and shutting the whole desktop manager is often the easiest way to resolve it.
