OTOH, if you are of the other faith, there is Karbon14 which is part of the KDE Koffice suite. http://www.koffice.org/karbon/ I had a quick play with it yesterday and it seemed to work, i.e. I was able to play around with a couple of clipart thingies. I liked to look of the UI. Scribus has some SVG image features. I have not used them very much, but when I did - some time ago now - they worked. The killer features of Scribus is the degree of conformance of the output to the pdf standard - it does, period. http://www.scribus.net/ There is also sodipodi. It's the parent of inkscape, is claimed to be faster and has a user interface which is a closer clone to that of the commercial product it emulates. I found it to be in the "Month of Sundays" class you mention. -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell
