Yes, Netbeans is providing an environment with its own path

$PATH = /usr/lib/openoffice/program

which is causing the openoffice addin to fail.  I've reported this as
a bug to the openoffice addin writers.

And I've got my installation working.  Now to learn how to program
openoffice addins in Java! woo-hoo!
