Come on Barry tell us some more info. What video card is it? What

lspci (part) gives...
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82852/82855 GM/GME/PM/GMV Processor
to I/O Controller (rev 02)
00:00.1 System peripheral: Intel Corporation 82852/82855 GM/GME/PM/GMV
Processor to I/O Controller (rev 02)
00:00.3 System peripheral: Intel Corporation 82852/82855 GM/GME/PM/GMV
Processor to I/O Controller (rev 02)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated
Graphics Device (rev 02)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated
Graphics Device (rev 02)

Knoppix5 gives basically the same info except that the 1st, 4th & 5th above
are all listed as Processor to I/O Controllers

It only appears to have loaded video module??

See above, What Driver Does It Use?

Try looking at xorg.conf to see if some setup program has specified a driver.

If not then the driver is probably being automatically started after a
probe, so look through /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see what driver is
being loaded.

Its *probably* the i810 driver, in which case your first port of call is

man i810

followed by googling 855M tvout and other combinations of the chipset
name and/or xorg and/or TV and/or tvout and/or svideo

Thanks for the replies Nick. I tried 2 tvs, dmesg says driver is i915 . Web searches only found problems not solutions. Is vga to rca a possibility?
