Can some one tell me the difference between STP vs UTP?

STP Shielded Twisted Pair
UTP Unshielded Twisted Pair

STP has a layer of foil around the outside of the 4 copper pairs, which is supposed to be connected to a metal shield around the outside of your RJ45 plug.

Similar to the shield around audio cable... supposed to stop/limit RF interference.
