It seems I can manually suspend using hibernate-ram or acpitool -s but the suspend-on-lid-close doesn't work, or pressing fn-F4. I don't know how these events are declared, generated or acted upon. Running kpowersave as root makes no difference, so I don't think it's a permissions thing. A
