        you could do this:
cd /usr/src
ln -s OpenLinux packages

I've gotten in the habit of doing the following on every box that I admin:
cd /usr/src/
mkdir packages
ln -s packages SuSE
ln -s packages RedHat
ln -s packages OpenLinux

that way, whatever I download "finds" the directory it expects
