I just installed version 5.0 on my caldera 2.4 boxes. Installed without trouble, etc. I won't try it on my RH 7.1 box. That is a weak performer. Which web site did you get yours from? Mine came form Adobe. There are a lot of web sites which let you download acrobat. You might not have gotten a good copy. (And how do you know these things are full of viri?) Joel
