Got it running on SuSE 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1; although it tends to lock
up on Mandrake due to some conflict with the bundled mozilla. Had a
little trouble at first, but solved problem by creating a new directory
with mkdir /home/user/netscape7 before the download. That way I could be
sure that the bundled version of netscape 4.78 wasn't overwritten.
Downloaded the installer tarball and un tarballed it then did a cd
/home/user/netscape-installer then ./netscape-installer. When the
download window popped up changed the download destination to
/home/user/netscape7 . When the download was complete netscape 7 did not
popup as claimed by netscape. Ordered it up with as /home/user with
netscape7/netscape . It popped up, answered all the profile and mail
questions and it copied my netscape 4.7 mail and bookmarks yo itself.
Shifted it to a desktop icon with right click, create new, link to
application and used /netscape7/netscape as the execute. It works great.

By default netscape will try to download to /usr/local/netscape, but
that leads to some problems with the old you don't have permission error
message even as root. So used the side door approach. If you want to use
/usr/local as the local directory suggest you create a new directory of
/usr/local/netscape7 . The the thing can be accesses with .using the
/netscape7/netscape as a command, although there may be some permission
problems running a root file as user. Hope this helps.
