mount image and archive files

we all knew how to mount an iso cd image file.

i wonder whether it's possible to mount other formats: nrg and cue+bin under linux. how about tar.gz, tar, rpm, rar and zip? something like winrar 3.0 for Win$ is doing, but via a linux amount point.
