Your patch will still fail in the fs/buffer.c file (2d hunk) if you have
the xfs patch applied.

Reason:
the xfs patch changes DQUOT_SYNC(dev); to DQUOT_SYNC_DEV(dev);

I make no guarantees, but if you need both xfs and ext3, you can hand
change line 387(? - or thereabouts) to:

        sync_supers(dev, 1);

and you should be OK.
