Since all the work I have done with Linux and wireless cards has been in the pcmcia realm, that's what I would have expected too. In fact, the first place I checked was /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts. No go. The file's date stamped matched with when the system was originally installed with Mandrake. The wireless card though is not a pcmcia device, but rather a pci card. Linksys WMP11, IIRC. Based on that, I don't think pcmcia is/was used to support this card.
