Here is a good read if you're interested in digital video editing using

Searching for Linux audio tools I found a very smart site by the "Stanford University Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustic":

http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/planetccrma.html

Although they are of course mainly focused on audio, they also deal with general optimization strategies for multimedia on Linux (low latency), and several video editing tools are mentioned, packed as RH rpms, and offered for download.

Oh, and here are more serious links for you to check out (non-linear video editors):
http://www.softlandmark.com/Linux/VideoEditing.htm
http://www.linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=5625
http://freshmeat.net/browse/256/?topic_id=256

These links are coming from a guy posting to a current thread on alt.os.linux (the original posted thread topic was a troll post, "Weak Microsoft ankle-biting", particularly, a post asking "Can Linux multitask like that [using Windows XP as a baseline] and remain stable? Is there any decent, powerful software in Linux that can be used to edit sound or video?"

Tim
