i just set up sound on my wife's machine, which is running suse. it has been a zillion years since i added sound to a linux machine. the volume is *way* too low. i remember there being a commandline app that sets the master default volume, but i cannot for the life of me remember its name. anybody remember, off the top of their heads? i've poked through my archives of posts both here and on the suse list, and though i know there have been discussions of this, i can't find 'em.
