yeah, I noticed that myself. Unfortunately, this is one of those things that varies from screen to screen, browser to browser. I've increased it slightly, and added the ability for it to scroll (ugh).

How about changing the text a little. May I sugest:
"The brainchild of Mike Andrew for the intended purpose of promoting Caldera OpenLinux, the Linux StepByStep site is currently distribution agnostic. Hundreds of people contribute to the site, and it is managed by an esteemed team of editors. The site is always under construction, so refresh your browser often to ensure you're getting the latest and greatest."


Cuts the word count by 13 and the character count by about 50, but I think it still gets the message across.
