Not sure if I should post this to general or not, but here goes... Anyone know of a way to copy from VCR tape to DVD using a PC DVD writer?
Thanks, Tim
Did about 6 tapes recently to cd and dvd. You need a TV card and software that will
capture in mpeg2, these is normally 'BIG" files 4-6gig per hour. I have a 40 gig HD on
raid to capture to, also I bought a Hauppage 250 as this card has a hardware mpeg 2
encoder, for better resolution and compression, about 760x576 PAL 2-4 gig per 90mins.
Once recorder to HD its fairly simple to tailor to size and burn.
There is one thing though, the Hauppage works with windows only as linux does not recognise the card.
I also bought a new MB with Nvidia Gforce chipset, really nice running at 400mhz on the rambus. But
again linux does not install with SATA raid enabled. The only Distro that works with the new onboard
sound and network cards; Mandrake 9.1!!
I love to work in linux but the drivers are just not there, for what I want to install and use.
