I'd also consider purchasing a new laptop, but my budget is limited to roughly US$1000, so it might be difficult to find something in that area. If anyone has recommendations, i'd love to hear them. I'd really rather not go to eBay, as i've heard way too many nightmare stories of folks getting scammed on computer hardare there. thanks.
Two weeks ago Best Buy was selling Toshiba laptops that meet your minimums for $750 after rebates (had to lay out $1100 initially, but assuming the rebates come through it will really be $750)
