Mach64 is from XFree86 3.x, back when there was a different X
binary for each chipset. As of XFree86 4.0, the server is 'XFree86'.
Then depending on which chipset you have configured in
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4, the appropriate chip-specific code module is
loaded. This is really a better way.
So, when you set your X server -> XF86_Mach64, you in effect enabled
XFree86 3.x. If you use the XFree86 binary, you are using XFree86 4.x
XFree86 4.x is configured by, if found, /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, or, if
that is not found, /etc/X11/XF86Config. XFree86 3.x is configured by
/etc/XF86Config. Assuming you have not placed any sych files in X's
system directories. Caldera OS install using the files in /etc stated
above.
