ssh user@remotehost.  

run screen.


setup 1 or more windows (connections, sessions, whatever you want to call
them).


if you're disconnected. reconnect to the remote host as you did on the
first step and run screen with the reattach option.

any sessions (processes) left running in the original instance of screen
will be there.
