In that case, either leave it the hell alone, or, have someone install a
.308 barrel with sights on it, and give you back your original barrel.
Better yet is to just find a good source of .303 ammo, and shoot that.

Were you to re-chamber to .308 ( I don't have drawings in front of me to
verify whether or not the chamber would clean up completely even) you would
have the issue of trying to shoot .308 diameter bullets out of a .311 bore.
Definitely not conducive to good accuracy, but if all you need is 20 feet (
see below) then you'd be fine, as you would if you handloaded, which it
sounds like you have the capacity to do.

I live in a suburban area, and the coyotes have just moved in. The cat is
getting nervous, so I'll be out soon with a rabbit call and my German
airgun. I wondered if this had the capability of taking down a 'yote.
Question answered. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to do it right
the first time. Coyotes won't give you a second chance to screw up.

Ruger deliberately uses .308 bore barrels in the mini 30, instead of .311.
Who knows why. If you reload, use standard .30 caliber jacketed bullets.
Speer make 125 grain TNT's that are pretty cheap, and darn accurate.

Well, given life's little uncertainties, I wouldn't think it'd be stupid to
have a stash of powder, primers, lead and some molds...

BTW our company intranet and internet access are severely impacted by the
latest IIS worm. Maybe the IT department will grow some grey matter and
convert to Apache
