Sure and perhaps add a useful list of switches I got from Pam Roberts:

for qt:

./configure -sm -gif -system-libpng -system-jpeg

and for kde:

./configure ---with-qt-dir=$QTDIR --with-qt-headers=$QTDIR/include 
--with-qt-libraries=$QTDIR/lib --with-ssl-dir=/usr/lib/openssl 
--prefix=/opt/kde2
