Absoute first port of call is usb->general info->who, what, where.

The bottom line is to discover what your usb animal is in terms of product
and vendor id. From there, it is a relatively simple matter to 'discover'
whether a driver exists for it. It may not give you the answer you want, it
will however, give you the answer.

Also bare in mind that usb driver modules differ markedly from the usual 20
meg of Kernel device-driver modules in that it is quite normal for most of
them NOT to be included as part of the Linux kernel package. This is both
because they are too new too beta, and, because the ground is shifting away
from providing the kitchen sink with linux. Far easier (especially with usb)
to ftp from www.usb.org, whatever is required. It also means, that unlike the
good old days, just because a driver doesn't exist in Linux source, does not
mean a driver doesn't exist.
