If you use a dial-up modem connection, you have to comment out (#) the
auth and lock entries in /etc/ppp/options.
This BTW seems to be the case with all Debians.
Installing Star Office 5.2 from the commercial CD was a challenge. I
wound up copying the whole install folder to my HD and chmod the install
script.
With Debian, you need to become very familiar with chmod.
