I've been running the SO 6 (Beta) for a bit now and have been very pleased
with it. It loads much quicker and does not load a 'desktop', but just the
application you told it to load. It also has (much) better compatability
with MS Office documents. Both reading and writing. I was especially please
when SO 6 was able to open a MSWord documents that had an embedded MSExcell
spreadsheet in it, created by a co-worker running Windows NT4 and MS Office
2000. SO 6 was even able to open the embedded spreadsheet and run the
formulas without a hitch. SO 5.2 would open the document, but barf on the
embedded spreadsheet.

FWIW, I remeber reading somewhere that you could disable the 'desktop' of SO
5.2, but I never did figure out how.
