Not sure about the Live! issue....  I'm using it with an Ensonique card from 
Creative.

As for being slow....  make sure you give the WIN machine enough RAM.  I 
think the default was 49MB and it runs like a slug at that level.  I'm 
currently running it in 64MB virtual and it runs quite well.  When I first 
tried VMware, I was sorely disappointed but someone who was more familiar 
with it talked me into trying it with some tuning.   Changed my whole outlook 
on it.
