Had this problem many moons ago and after that I always remake the icons for the cd drives and floppy. They differing distros have their own esoteric mannner of mounting the drives and in many cases they fail. I make my own mount points in / for the drives and them alter /etc/fstab to conform the the normal mount:: /dev/hdc /cdrom iso9660 ro,noauto, user, exec 0 0 never had a problem since. addenda:: If I want to use DAO I ensure that the drives are on differing ide busses, also that the mount is for scsi (/dev/scd0 or sda0) and the relevant scsi options are modularised in the kernel. -- Keith Antoine aka 'skippy' 18 Arkana St, The Gap, Queensland 4061 Australia PH:61733002161 Retired Geriatric, Sometime Electronics Engineer, Knowall, Brain in storage _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list Archives, Digests, etc at http://linux.nf/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
