Go have a look at the latest Xine at xine.sourceforge.net and see the specifications etc. I have been using Xine to play VCD's and DVD's. I found out about 2 days ago that the 0.9.5 release was quicktime enabled but had no time to test the `.mov' that I had on windows. again they have just releasedf the 0.9.6 version but you do need to go to http://skyblade.homeip.net/xine they have all the rpms necessary for a full install of xine. > TO the best of my understanding, the Sorrenson codecs neccesary to play > most Quicktime movies have not been licencesed to anyone but Apple, and > thus will only work using Apple's official Quicktime player, which > doesn't have a native Linux version. There is the Codeweavers crossover > plugin, which will allow you to play Quicktimes under Linux, but that > plugin is not free. They say on the page that Sorrenson is not currently supported. I did question that and from what they said, obviously they are working on it. Xine in itself has improved immensely since 0.9.3 and seems to be accelerating in the developement area, there has been very little time from 0,9.4 to .6 -- Keith Antoine aka 'skippy' 18 Arkana St, The Gap, Queensland 4061 Australia PH:61733002161 Retired Geriatric, Sometime Electronics Engineer, Knowall, Brain in storage _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list Archives, Digests, etc at http://linux.nf/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
