I'm no expert, but I'm not aware of any of the standard services that require multicasting, although I believe that a NIC's promiscuous mode uses the multicast address (224.0.0.1). In any event, it should be simple to use iptables to drop, reject, or deny multicast packets. Kurt -- Nirvana?
