This has never been a problem for me using Mozilla since, well, since a LONG time ago. Are you sure you've selected it properly? Do you have "Delete messages on server when they are deleted locally" checked? If so, uncheck it. Are you configuring the correct server? If that doesn't help, try deleting all the .msf files in the profile (with Netscape NOT running, they will be rebuilt) and see if that helps. If that doesn't help, create a new profile. Old mail should copy over to the new profile fine, once you establish a working system. As I said, I've been leaving mail on the server with Mozilla since M18, IIRC, and I don't remember it ever not working right.
