As a printing medium on Linux CUPS is way ahead of anything else. However 
having said that yes it does have problems with *some* older printers not 
having drivers. Also i have discovered that its a total *dog* on my Suse 7.3
which still wants to load std lpd rasther than cups like all other distros.. 
When I choose otherwise I have more problems than Moby Dick with printing.
