My work laptop, a Dell Latitude E5400 happily boots Linux Mint.
All hardware including wireless works.
I just received a DSE webcam, product XH9798, USB ID 0c45:62e0
Microdia MSI Starcam Racer.

Installed Skype via Synaptic package manager.
Webcam just works.
Laptop's internal mic had to be manually unmuted via mixer (untick
"mute" in appropriate tab).
Test call to friend works. Both parties could see and hear each other.

2 degrees modem and telecom XT modem both worked only after package
usb_modeswitch was installed.
Still not sure why usb_modeswitch is not included in the initial
install - this is a letdown for any distro because the 3G mobile might
be someone's only internet connection - chicken/egg situation.

DVD playback fine after appropriate decss libs installed.

Overall I am pleased with Mint. It's a gnome desktop which I'm not
used to but it's growing on me.
KDE is more configurable but has Win98/WinME-esque stability issues IMHO.

Just thought I'd share my experience for the record.

Yuri
