I think I've been a bit overly-optimistic about my freedom of movement inside the cordon. I used to be allowed to go past the check-point on Salisbury St. - this is how I got a car parked on Colombo close to Peterborough outside the cordon - but not anymore. Nobody at that check-point was able to tell me anything about the state of the building on 77 Gloucester, nor did they know whom to ask or where to call for that info. The only number they could give me was 0800 779 997 which is the Government's earthquake helpline. One question I was asked though, and that is if I am the owner of the building. I said no, but if I was, who should I call or where should I ask, but they didn't tell me that. Sorry I couldn't find out more.
