I had the original WDTV Live and it was rubbish.

Constant problems, crashes and long outstanding bugs that WD never got around to fixing despite being listed at the very top of their community voice submission lists (which they completely ignored).

It may be that the newer versions are better but my experiences with the WDTV live put me off even considering another WD media player for the foreseeable future.

Instead I bought a Boxee Box which has been magnificent.

It still crashes rarely, but the sheer power and flexibility of this little box is awesome. Network, Wireless N WiFi, SDHC slot, USB slots all built in. Wireless remote with a fairly usable keyboard on the back. Plays pretty much any format flawlessly up to 1080p via HDMI. Optical S/PDIF, Composite Audio.

Networking via SMB, NFS, UNnp - I use mediatomb on an Unbuntu box downstairs to store media.

There's a huge range of downloadable Apps - everything from news sources, RSS feeds, Mashable, Revision 3, youtube, TED tv, streaming from online file storage sites, online radio, image slideshows via flickr etc, Video on Demand channels, social networking stuff.

Boxee certainly isn't without its faults but is the best retail media player (by far) that I've personally tried.

Hi folks...

Trivia question of sorts... Our trusty Dlink media player died last week
during the lightening storm, and I need to look a new one before I get
lynched by the kids.

I skipped though the manual on the Western Digital site and it mentions NFS
shares.

Just wondering if anyone is using one and how easily it all went?
