About the "blue people" bug see:

It has something to do with the latest flash 11.2 and nvidia proprietary
drivers, so if you don't have nvidia it doesn't affect you. Of all
workarounds in here:

creating that file was the only one that worked for me.

You don't *have* to authenticate to use it, but is nagging you every
chance it gets, at start-up or on "relevant" sites
