I have an Easy Cap 2.0 video capture dongle. It works. The quality is average; probably adequate for old VHS tapes. I can ensure that it gets to the meeting on Monday evening if you don't find anything better.
When I digitized all my tapes, I borrowed a consumer grade (Panasonic or Sony) CD/DVD/HDD player which also had analog AV inputs and the ability to record to HDD and to DVD. It was very easy to use.
