I am using terminal version on xterm 157 with -u8.
I input a doublecolumn character using 'a' command and so on.
[] <- a doublecolumn character
~ <- cursor position
Then I hit ESC key
[{} <- {} means dotted box character and [ means garbage half.

I found that the following occurs after about one second:
[]} <- } means garbage half of dotted box character. [] is right character.
