I was pretty sure the make install command did  "depmod -a" , guess I
was wrong then. :-!

The errors were very similar to the ones Brian described:

'v4l2-compat-ioctl32.ko': -1 Invalid module format


At first I thought the uvcvideo module didn't get loaded but then I
fired up guvcview
and it worked (no dmesg warnings or errors).
Also like Laurent said, the reported bug concerning changing from yuv to
mjpeg 
format is now solved.
