Could you please provide me with the complete output of lsusb -v -d 5986:0205 using usbutils 0.72 or newer (0.73+ preferred) ? Which version of the uvcvideo driver are you using ? Quirk 2 shouldn't be needed for most "Bison" webcams anymore. Could you try the latest driver ? Instructions to download and compile the driver from sources are available at http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/ > I've been researching the issue and my best guess is that this particular > webcam (sometimes called an Acer Bison) is too new to have actual support > (the Device ID isn't listed, but 5986:0203 is) and I came to a couple of > posts on this list where Laurent seemed to indicate that you a userspace > fix to this may have been implemented in the libv4l(2) library, but I > can't seem to find it. Some webcams are mounted upside down, and while they usually support hardware- based image rotation, that function is most of the time not exposed through USB :-/ A userspace library handles image rotation (and more). It might need to be updated for your particular webcam model though. You should contact Hans de Goede, the libv4l2 author (please CC [email protected]). > Thanks for your time. You're welcome.
