The "Failed to query" messages are unfortunately not surprising. Many "old" Logitech UVC webcams suffer from a firmware bug that has no known 100% reliable workaround. The spontaneous disconnection troubles me. I've never noticed, or even heard of, such a problem with Logitech UVC webcams. > dmesg: > usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2 > usb 4-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice > usb 4-4: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=0994 > usb 4-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=2 > usb 4-4: SerialNumber: BB56BCEC > Linux video capture interface: v2.00 > usbcore: registered new interface driver snd-usb-audio > uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device <unnamed> (046d:0994) > input: UVC Camera (046d:0994) as > /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb4/4-4/4-4:1.0/input/input8 > usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo > USB Video Class driver (v0.1.0) > uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 2 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). > uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 7 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). > uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 3 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). > usb 4-4: USB disconnect, address 2 > ALSA sound/usb/usbaudio.c:351: frame 0 active: -71 > ALSA sound/usb/usbaudio.c:696: cannot submit urb (err = -19) > ALSA sound/usb/usbaudio.c:868: cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, error > -19: no device > > <repeated many times...> > > ALSA sound/usb/usbaudio.c:868: cannot submit datapipe for urb 0, error > -19: no device > > > Subsequent physical replugging of the camera leads to events like these: > > > usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 > usb 4-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice > uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device <unnamed> (046d:0994) > input: UVC Camera (046d:0994) as > /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb4/4-4/4-4:1.0/input/input9 > usb 4-4: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=0994 > usb 4-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=2 > usb 4-4: SerialNumber: BB56BCEC > uvcvideo: Failed to query (130) UVC control 2 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). > uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 7 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). > uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 3 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). > ALSA sound/usb/usbmixer.c:803: cannot get current value for control 1 > master ch: err = -22 In what time frame does the problem occur (especially the spontaneous disconnection) ? Could you try the camera on another machine ?
