Thanks for the reply, Lawson. I tried setting the FontPath to the truetype
directory you suggested, but now X starts without any window manager at all.
If I switch runlevel to start it, it flicks back and forth between the
RedHat login screen and a plain, blank Xwindows desktop forever (even F3
doesn't work - I have to hit h/w reset).
Trying to start up the gdm daemon manually has the same effect. I've been
trying to find a log file, but cannot. Perhaps I'd better finish off my Perl
script to search out all files updated within the last n hours and try to
find the log that way !
