Good, if it's already fading into insignificance we don't have to worry about their IPR scheme. I've heard this mentioned in a talk by Zach Shelby [1] but wasn't quite sure how serious to take the statement. In the context of qi-hardware, which is about copyleft hardware, we plan to use IEEE 802.15.4 as a "poor man's WiFi", since chips or modules for the 802.11 family tend to be very closed. An open standard like 6LoWPAN is ideal for our purposes. I intend to look into this issue as well. Without commercial support, this would also have to be "just" a hobbyist effort. Maybe the companies who would be interested were just afraid of the oh so scary Guardians of the Kernel :-) Thanks, - Werner ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Create and publish websites with WebMatrix Use the most popular FREE web apps or write code yourself; WebMatrix provides all the features you need to develop and publish your website. http://p.sf.net/sfu/ms-webmatrix-sf _______________________________________________ Linux-zigbee-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-zigbee-devel
