Hi, maybe you notice that I ask for to be maintainer for the IEEE 802.15.4 subsystem. I collect acks from the current maintainer and the patch is in david millers queue.
After I will ask for a mailinglist at vger.kernel.org and we should move the mailinglist from linux-zigbee-devel to the new one. Why? I have several issues with the sourceforge mailinglist: - make an ugly footer in each mail. - sometimes mail delivery fails (don't know I had some problems to send some series to this mailinglist) - Mails will be moderate if patch size is too high. (Maybe this is configureable and vger.kernel.org has also a limit, but it seems to be higher than the sourceforge one) - the name "*zigbee*" (Sometimes the people doesn't read the projectinfo on sourceforge and then they write some mails with lot of buzzwords which begins with Z'ts and I don't ever heard this words in IEEE 802.15.4 6LoWPAN context) I need to make a proper name for the new mailinglist on vger.kernel.org. But what is a better name? It should begin with "linux-" maybe - "linux-ieee802154" - "linux-802154" - "linux-wpan" I don't want to name something "linux-6lowpan", "linux-lowpan". I already talk about there is some 6LoWPAN generic code which is shared between bluetooth and 802.15.4. In near future I will try to make a new net branch for this. (If this idea/code comes mainline). My opinion: "linux-wpan": We don't have a fancy name like bluetooth and the real bluetooth standard is "IEEE 802.15.1" which is also a WPAN. That's why I really don't like the naming "linux-wpan". Because WPANs are IEEE 802.15 standards, see [0]. "linux-ieee802154": In a nutshell: this name is too long. "linux-802154": It's shorter than "linux-ieee802154" and describes the standard, just without the word "ieee" and that is enough to understand what we doing. My favourite is "linux-802154". I want to hear some other opinions or if somebody have a better idea, please tell me that. - Alex [0] http://www.ieee802.org/15/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open source business process management suite built on Java and Eclipse Turn processes into business applications with Bonita BPM Community Edition Quickly connect people, data, and systems into organized workflows Winner of BOSSIE, CODIE, OW2 and Gartner awards http://p.sf.net/sfu/Bonitasoft _______________________________________________ Linux-zigbee-devel mailing list Linux-zigbee-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-zigbee-devel
