Ben, The "vent" goes through a special galvanised plate made for its' diameter. This plate slides under the upper tiles and on top of the lower ones. I'm a bit of a maniac and I even made mine larger using aluminium backed bitumen sheeting. You may have to "decorate" the vent to make it look like a real chimney, these are also sold . I gave mine a great deal of thought and as in Norway houses are made of wood and they all have fireplaces I went for the Norwegian stuff. To stop fires they have some very strict rules and regulations and as said, I'm a maniac type and prefer being on the safe side. Jotul (the "o" has a diagonal line through it) is the most respected (and maybe the most expensive ?)company in Norway.
