The *SND status is quite frustrating, sometimes, because it does not convey
enough information to trouble-shoot LPD/LPR problems. If you have IBM
support-line, IBM is very helpful in working with you on this problem. Much
of the information (if you search long enough) is on their Web site at
www.ibm.com under support (search on keywords. Here's a link from a search

In my experience, if "timeout" and other values on both ends do not agree,
the job times out but the status becomes disconnected from the process --
henceforth, the status column reads *SND when it should read *RDY or *MSGW.
