I am talking about connecting with telnet yes.
5250 connection to the 400 is my last stumbling block in migrating from a ms
desktop environment to linux. Confusing users with new details like key
combinations and stuff like that is not a good idea. I'll have to be able to
replicate what they have now.

Thanks in any case, already figured that it's not possible with vt100
either.

It's unclear what you mean.  You can use a vt100 terminal with just plain
telnet, or are you talking about a real vt100, a piece of DEC-branded
hardware?

In either case, I think tn5250 is a better solution - it's more flexible and
uses less bandwidth.
