Well the big thing that everyone notices is good looking fonts.  This is
where gtk2 really shines.  It looks very nice.

But for me the big reason to use 2.0 is that all the docs on gtk.org are
for 2.0 now.  The older 1.2 docs are probably still there but everything
I've been doing is 2.0.

I'm sure there will be enough feedback that we will come up with something
that most people like.

You may want to try 2.0 since they can both coexist on one machine.  There
aren't a whole lot of apps written to the 2.0 API yet but many are being
updated to use it.
