I don't know what
anyone feels about this but Jon (J.D.) had a good point - I was going to do this
after the meeting but I forgot. This is just a few questions (some we
talked about when we intro'd ourselves at the meeting) to see where we all stand
with experience and use of Linux. Of course they are all not perfect
indicating measures but just for an idea.
1.) Linux
level: - What level do you see yourself as a Linux/*nix user? Newbie -
Expert - Linus Torvalds (or any self described status)
2.) Years using
Linux: - uhm...guess ;)
3.) Computers
running Linux: - What computers and distro's you currently have installed - just
a list of different uses and distributions you use at home/work/etc. If
you have more than one with the same/similar setup you just can list it
once.
4.) Favorite
distribution: If you have one, and why?
5.) Do you use Linux
professionally: - do you use it at work, and if so for what? Web server,
Desktop, router?
6.) What speed
internet connection: 56k, dsl/cable, T1, satellite, or what?
If anyone wants to
add anything please feel free. That said I'll go
first.
1.) Linux level:
slightly above moderate - I don't know all but I know where to go to find it,
and have pretty good success in fixing problems, and I'm fairly comfortable on a
linux box.
2.) Years using
Linux: about 6
3.) Computers
running Linux:
Dual PPro running Slackware - use as gateway for home
Laptop running Debian/WinME - just fool around on and practice
:)
I
may fool around with Debian on my main desktop too soon.
4.) Favorite distro:
used to be Slackware but now leaning toward Debian.
5.) Do you use Linux
professionally: Nope. I have no say what we use at work. I have to
maintain %100 compatability with Powerpoint/Word/etc and M$ programs for various
reasons.
6.) At home I have a
cable modem, we have a T1 at work.
