GIMP -- GNU Image Manipulation Program -- is a great GPL open source
graphics editor for X Windows environments. For the Linux world, GIMP
occupies a similar niche as does Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photopaint in the
Windows environments. (Unlike those two products, GIMP will not cost you
hundreds of dollars.) There is a Windows port of GIMP that brings it to the
users of that obscure operating system from Redmond, WA. <g> More info and
software downloads at http://www.gimp.org.

On Monday 15 Oct 2001 at 7:30pm, I'll be doing a presentation and demo of
the Windows port of GIMP for the Princeton PC Users Group at the Mercer
County Library, Lawrenceville NJ (Route 1 Alt and Darrah Lane)

This is a good opportunity to introduce Windows users to open source
software and to show that it is not only a Linux thing but works across
various platforms. I'll also use GIMP to demonstrate graphics techniques
that can be used on most any graphics software.

Jeff Yepp: I can do a Linux GIMP presentation for next month's HAMlug meeting.
